In Christmas 2008, who would have thought that a charming little album of old Irish songs that were drummed into us in school would have such an effect on adults and children alike throughout the entire country! An album that could not keep up with demand, such was it’s popularity. John Spillane’s ‘Irish Songs We Learned At School’ went on to be the biggest selling Irish Album of that year, and became “the must have” gift for home and abroad.
They say lightning doesn’t strike twice, but in 2009, John did it again with ‘More Irish Songs We Learned At School’, this time joined by two great heroes of Irish song; Christy Moore and Seán Ó Sé. and once again featuring the students of Coláiste Choilm and GaelCholáiste Choilm, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, with teacher Catherine Frost.
